Who knew this blogging idea would lead me to challenge myself at such great lengths? I need more books to read like I need another hole in the head. Nevertheless, here I go with another challenge....The Newbery Challenge. Since I've read a majority of the winners from the last 15 years I chose to go further back in making my selections.
1. Jacob Have I Loved by Katherine Paterson (1981)
2. The Summer of the Swans by Betsy Byars (1971)
3. Up A Road Slowly by Irene Hunt (1967)
4. Ginger Pye by Eleanor Estes (1952)
5. Roller Skates by Ruth Sawyer (1937)
6. Hitty: Her First Hundred Years by Rachel Field (1930)
Visit Nattie Writes! for further details about her magnificent challenge.

Great list...Just a reminder the scavenger starts on monday
Oh, good - I haven't read any of the ones you've listed. Oh, bad - I bet I'll be adding most of them to my TBR list as you write about how good they are.
Here's to holes in the head, more challenges, and a never ending TBR list. I think we're all crazy! They say crazy people have more fun.
Thank you for joining the challenge.
Cool! Great list. And you can borrow my Newberry button if you like!! I just wanted something to show!!
I was going to read Jacob Have I Loved, but I decided on The Bridge to Terabithia by the same author instead!
Bridge to Terabithia is a great read. I won't talk at great length about it since you haven't read it but I'm interested in your thoughts. I still haven't seen the movie but my little patrons keeping telling me to.
Oh-Jacob Have I Loved-I love this book. Probably read it four or five times in high school. Hope you enjoy!
bj,
I loved it! It's shame that I missed out on it as a child. But I'm glad that I finally read it.
